September 30 marks the debut of “A Seat at the Table,” an album written, produced and performed by Solange Knowles. Taken from her twitter account, Solange “started writing ASATT almost 4 years ago” and has finally released it to the public.

This project is so peaceful and beautiful. Her vision for this album “is meant to provoke healing & journey of self-empowerment.” Apple Music calls it “a confessional autobiography and meditation on being black in America” and I could not agree with this description more. A Seat at the Table makes you want to drink tea and light incense.

4 1/2 out of 5 OWLS.
