         Alden Smith impact player for the San Francisco 49ers goes to rehab for alcohol abuse. Smith, who stands 6-4, weighs 265 and plays defensive end along with some linebacker positions for the 49ers has had trouble off the field a few to many times now. Smith has been arrested twice on the suspicion of driving under the influence. He received required counseling for alcohol abuse after his first DUI. This Wednesday will be Smith’s 24th birthday and this is his 3rd year with the team.
      The 49ers organization are more concerned about his health. They understand he is only 24 years old and has his whole life ahead of him. After their 27-7 loss against the Indianapolis Colts Sunday Alden released a statement apologizing to the organization, the fans, his friends and his family. He also thanked them for their support as he goes on this leave to better himself. There is no set timetable as to win Smith will be back on the team his return is indefinite as of now. This also means he will not play this Thursday against the St. Louis Rams at their home.He also may be facing some game suspicions from breaking the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
