THE WILD HONEY PIE PRESENTS MATT CORBY TELLURIC TOUR COMMUNION PRESENTED SHOWS IN MINNEAPOLIS, DALLAS AND ATLANTA
“Telluric,” the debut full-length album from Australian musician Matt Corby is out now via Elektra Records. The album, which was recently awarded Feature Album of the Week on Australia’s revered Triple j Radio, continues to receive critical acclaim both stateside and abroad:
“Remarkable debut ★★★★” —Q Magazine
“… Groovy ‘70s choogle from Down Under, served with an extra side of Steely Dan.” —Entertainment Weekly
“… Transcendent gospel-soul.” —MOJO
“Moving, impassioned, and totally calming.” —NYLON
“His perfectionism has done him proud, as Telluric is a masterful glimpse into the mind of a man who has much to say, and who says it beautifully.” —The Line of Best Fit
“It’s smooth, easy-going and has a psychedelic pop feel that’s bound to make Tame Impala fans swoon.” —Indie Shuffle
Additionally, The Wild Honey Pie will present Corby’s anticipated return to North America this summer with tour stops including Chicago’s Vic Theatre, San Francisco’s The Fillmore, Los Angeles’ The Wiltern, Washington DC’s 9:30 Club, New York’s Terminal 5, as well as an appearance at the Sasquatch! Music Festival. “His catchy melodies will make you hum along,” The Wild Honey Pie said. “His soulful voice will captivate you and the rhythm will keep you on your feet.”
Corby originally wrote his debut album two years ago in Los Angeles, but, unsatisfied with the results, he scrapped the entire project. His aim was to become self-sufficient in every aspect of the recording process—composing and producing his own music in addition to songwriting.
Delving a little deeper and a little darker, Corby spent the past few years in home studios all over the world ending up in a cottage in rural New South Wales, Australia where he wrote and recorded new music. The album was produced by Dan Hume and co-produced by Corby.
In 2011, Corby’s career took off with the release of the “Into the Flame” EP, featuring the song “Brother,” which garnered 5.5 million plays on YouTube and went platinum six times in Australia. “Brother” and his 2013 single, “Resolution,” both won ARIA Music Awards for Song of the Year. Off the back of this success, Corby played sold-out headline shows across Europe and performed at some of the UK’s biggest festivals including Glastonbury and Latitude.
