“Sonic Highways” by Foo Fighters

By: Jimmy Sears

The Foo Fighters returned this year with their most hyped record yet. Their eighth studio album, “Sonic Highways,” is practically a tour of eight cities in the United States. Dave Grohl said “Sonic Highways” tries to capture the musical essences of Chicago, Washington D.C., Nashville, Austin, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Seattle, and New York City with each track to make for an enticing whirl.

The Foo Fighters recorded each song in a different studio across the country. Places such as New Orleans’ Preservation Hall and Robert Lang Studios in Shorline, Wash., served as recording venues. If that’s not enough, guest artists such as Georgia’s own Zac Brown and Joe Walsh of The Eagles contribute their musical prowess with the Foo.

“I Am A River” was recorded in NYC and Grohl shared a story he heard about a river that was under one of the studios in NYC that not many knew about. “I’ve found a secret,” an inspired Dave Grohl says as waves of guitars surf through the waters as they beat the surface for an awe-inspiring track. Check out “Sonic Highways” on iTunes.
