We are not currently hiring On Air DJs. This was the last semester that we were accepting DJ applications from people who weren’t already involved with the station. We are always looking for people to help out by joining one of the stations teams. Beginning in the Fall all on air positions will be filled by people already working on Owl Radio’s teams. After working on one of these teams for a semester you’ll be able to apply to be a DJ.
Below are descriptions of the stations teams and who you can email if you’d like to get involved. If you’d like to get some on air experience, I recommend the local music team or Sports team. Every Friday the local music team does a show from 2-4pm and the sports team does 3 shows. There will always be a trained DJ kind of captaining the show, but anyone from the team is welcome to help out.
Production
This team is responsible for recording any PSAs, show promos, liners and underwriting as they are needed. This team will also be podcasting any talk shows (as music shows aren’t allowed to be podcasted). They will also help the news team with their daily news updates and set up the weekend replays as needed. This team will also work on editing music.

Promotions
This team is responsible both for promotions and underwriting. Members will be going to local businesses offering underwriting and asking for giveaways for shows. We would also like to try to get some local businesses to play Owl Radio if they have the capability of playing music from their computer through their speakers. They will also be responsible for working to promote the station through open mic and karaoke nights at local businesses. Theoretically we’d like to find a business that already has these nights and have them put our name on it in return for promotion on the station and we may be able to bring out MCs. We’d also like to make tradeoffs with local publications (Creative Loafing type of stuff) and venues. Publications would give us an ad in return for underwriting a show and venues would give us passes to give away in return for having them on our show calendar that is read every hour and may be added to the website.

Sports
We have 3 sports shows during the week. This team is undergoing some changes as we are trying to get more people involved in the shows as well as some of the live broadcasts of sports events (basketball and hockey currently). Each member is responsible for keeping up with one club sport at KSU and emailing in any news for the hosts of the show to go over. They also have the option of coming on the show to do their news themselves. One or 2 members will also be joining the news team and doing the sports segment on the news show. This segment would include the sports headlines and any local (atlanta, KSU) sports news. The team is currently looking for a few people to help out with live broadcasts of the basketball, hockey, and baseball/softball games this semester. Members who do not have a KSU club sport will be required to work 1 live broadcast every month.

Music
This team will be responsible for collecting music. This team will solicit music from record labels. They will be responsible for listening to and reviewing any music that comes in and uploading music into MegaSeg. They will also be partly responsible for checking lyrics (mainly rap music until we’re done with that) of music uploaded from CD Warehouse. A few people on this team will be responsible for keeping megaseg organized and working with the production team on getting music edited.

Local
This team will be responsible for collecting music from local artists. We have a myspace page that can be used as well as trying to get music from local bands at shows and getting our name out. There is a 2 hour local music show on Friday afternoons and members of the team will work together to DJ it. We would like to have a live band every week and possibly a local band of the week type of thing.

Tech Team
This team is mainly involved in setting up live bands at the station. You will be trained on basic soundchecking and setting up mics. In addition, you can learn how to set up the equipment for remote broadcasting, troubleshooting station equipment, and keeping the web site up to date.
