This past weekend was one of the most anticipated weekends in all of sports. It was the start of college football, for most teams this was there fresh start at a chance to redeem themselves from last season but for some it’s another chance to prove them selves as to why they should contend for the BCS title. The Georgia Bulldogs were one of the highly favorite teams to represent the SEC this year as they pulled in the rankings as the number five team in the nation. There first challenge was amongst them as they faced the highly explosive Clemson Tigers who were ranked number eight led by Tahj Boyd and All American wide receiver Sammy Watkins.
The game lived up to its hype as both teams scored on both of there opening drives starting with UGA’s running back Todd Gurley 73 yard touchdown run. The tigers immediately responded back by Tahj Boyd connecting with Junior wide out Sammmy Watkins on a 65 yard slant route. As the game went on both teams seemed to go pound for pound matching one another each time the other scored up until the end of the 3rd quarter. This was the turning point of the game as the bulldogs had the opportunity to tie it up at 31 with a field goal, but the snap was fumbled by the holder which led to a huge turnover for Georgia. By this happening it gave the tigers momentum to drive down the field and score a touchdown pushing there lead over the bulldogs to 10. With the momentum on Clemson’s side Georgia’s defense had no answer for the explosive offense which led to a poor 4th quarter performance by Aaron Murray. The loss knocked the bulldogs out of the associated press top 10 and bumped the tigers to a number 4 ranking. UGA’s dog days may still be ahead of them as they host Jadeveon Clowney and the South Carolina Gamecocks this Saturday in there home opener.
