Who will win NFC Championship
The Atlanta Falcons are hosting their first ever NFC Championship game in the Georgia Dome this Sunday. This is their 3rd NFC Championship appearance and they have 1-1 record. The last NFC Championship game they went to was in the 2004-2005 season with Michael Vick as their starting quarterback and they faced the Philadelphia Eagles. The last time the Falcons won a NFC Championship game was in the 1998-1999 season over the Minnesota Vikings. They went on to face the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl and came up short. Their opponent this weekend is the San Francisco 49ers. This is their 14th appearance and they have an 5-8 record. They were in the NFC Championship game last year against the New York Giants. The 49ers fumbled away the game and allowed the Giants the win to the Super bowl. They have a 1-3 record with the NFC Championship games on the road. That might be a good stat coming into this weekend. This past weekend we saw the 49ers just roll by the Green Bay Packers to get to this point and the city of Atlanta saw the Falcons blow a 20 point lead in the fourth quarter, which could have been the biggest upset in playoff history. But once again Matty-Ice showed us the resiliency he has to carry his team to a victory. Matt Ryan can prove, to not only his critics but most importantly the city of Atlanta, who he is by showing up big in Sunday’s game. The Falcons played the 49ers in 2010 and beat them. The quarterback then for the San Francisco was Alex Smith, now they have an explosive quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, who can control the game with his arm and his legs. The Falcons have a 4-2 record against the San Francisco 49ers dating back to the 2001 season. If the Falcons can control the running game of the 49ers, they have a chance to move on to the Super Bowl.
