Ryan Hurd just released his debut album, “Pelago”, on October 15th and he is definitely looking to stake his spot in country music. They say a debut album takes a lifetime to write and with the range of sincerity and emotion that comes out of every track, I’d say this album is no different. The album’s first single, “To a T”, was released in 2018 and peaked at 22 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. While not a huge commercial success, it put Hurd on the map as a prolific songwriter as well as a rising act in the Nashville scene. “Chasing After You” is the newest single off the album and it’s a duet with his wife, Maren Morris, who is one of the biggest stars in country music. It’s currently sitting at #7 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. This is arguably the biggest song of both of their careers. There is an audible tension in this song that gives it this edge of realness. Overall, the album is a collection of love songs that are clearly meant for his wife. This is the first of a long career for Hurd and I expect a lot of praise will be coming his way.
