Kennesaw State Owl Radio is invested in the KSU campus and local community. As part of our commitment to serving the needs of the community, Owl Radio is proud to give tours of our station to Scouts and our local community, whether it is Webelos completing the Communicator requirement, Cub Scouts pursuing the Arrow of Light, potential students, or simply a school class interested in the new face of radio.
We do a lot of tours. We know the time and hard work you and parents invest in Scouting. Owl Radio understands it can be difficult to find a common time for the Den and parents to meet, so if we can accommodate your regular meeting time we will.
Troops and packs will get a tour of our on-air and production studios and even get to be on the air. Packs often have the opportunity to record a station ID or “liner” and hear it as well. Of course, parents and siblings are welcome. An MP3 or Wav file of the scouts’ on-air experience can be emailed to the groups’ Cubmasters and Scoutmasters upon request.
You do not need to be a Den, Pack, or Troop to tour Owl Radio. Any group or organization may request a tour.
Owl Radio has two studios, one in each Student Center on the Marietta and Kennesaw campuses. Tours are generally of the Kennesaw campus station, though Marietta studio tours may be considered if requested.
Tour Policy
- No food or drinks are allowed inside the studio during the tour.
- Participants under the age of 14 will require an adult to child ratio of one to five. (ie. 20 kids under 14 years old must have four adult chaperones to accompany the group)
- All adult participants of the tour will be required to sign a Tour Waiver. Individuals who do not sign a waiver will not be admitted.
When participating in the tour, the organization agrees to indemnify and hold harmless KSU Owl Radio and Kennesaw State University, its employees and agents, from and against any and all claims of personal or property damages liability which arise out of, or are in any way connected with the activities of the organization of Kennesaw State property.
DIRECTIONS – Kennesaw Campus Studio
Once your tour is scheduled and confirmed, the Visitor Lot is where all should park (KSU does not usually charge for parking on evenings or weekends, but does in some circumstances).
If any of the parents are not familiar with the Kennesaw campus, follow this link for directions.
The visitor lot is next to the Carmichael Student Center (bldg #5) and the KSU Bookstore. Go through the Bookstore or the Student Center doors on the left to the other end of the building. Owl Radio is to the right of the staircase, Rm 171. If you have problems, you can call the station at 470-578-2005.
