Before I start this review, I would like to say welcome to 2021 everyone. Who would have thought that 2020 would actually end? All jokes aside, I wanted to start off the new year by writing about a genre that surged in popularity last year, which was Lo-fi. Many students, including myself, flock to Lo-fi albums that help us study, work, or even sleep. Sunday Vibes by local artist Kamal Akin is no exception. His debut album has a total of 14 tracks. Each track brings something new and exciting for the listener. Songs such as “Morning Sun” and “School Daze” invoke mellow vibes that are perfect for winding down. Other tracks like “In My Zone” and “Iced Coffee” are perfect for homework or writing a last-minute essay. All in all, this album stays true to the Lofi genre by having a steady beat, relaxed tempo, and a minimal amount of instrumentation.
