In September of 2017, singer-songwriter Jhene Aiko released her second studio album Trip along with her visual movie to promote the album (Trip: The Movie).  Aiko is known for her soft, melodic and tranquil music sound; and the 22 songs on this album stay true to her style.

The 23-minute visual movie incorporates a number of the songs from the album including “While We’re Young” and “When We Love”.  The storyline follows a young girl named Penny (a version of Aiko’s self) and her journey of finding love in the most unexpected place while getting over the death of her younger brother.

The songs on the album cover a range of topics from love, to drug and substance abuse, to the death of Aiko’s brother, to a mother’s love for her daughter (Aiko’s daughter Namiko is featured on one of the tracks on the album “Sing to Me”).  In the hour and 26 minutes of listening to this album, you are taken on a journey through the mind and the life of the soulful R&B singer.
