Singer/songwriter duo St. Beauty just released their first studio album Running to the Sun in January of 2018.  The duo is known for being associated with other artists such as Jidenna, Janelle Monae, and Jhene Aiko (St. Beauty opened for Aiko during her ‘Trip” tour).

Running to the Sun’ has a very eccentric, unique sound that pulls the listener in.  The two singers’ voices perfectly complement each other on all of the tracks; and they both have their own distinctive sounds, while managing to still stunningly blend with one another.

St. Beauty has described their sound and the overall vibe of this album as “confetti”; declaring that no one genre of music can completely encompass their sound.  “…Because confetti has so many phases. When it blows out, it’s exciting; when its falling, you feel awe; when it hits the ground, its mellow tranquility…and then when it’s time to throw it all away, you feel melancholy.  That’s our sound, that’s our music” St. Beauty member Alex Belle says.  Songs like “Not Discuss It” and “Caught” take the listeners through every one of the “confetti” emotions described.

The album also has a unique flair, consisting of a number of narrated interludes like “Poor Little Rich Girl (Interlude)” and “Seasons (Interlude)”.  Overall this album definitely does an excellent job at providing a new sound for people who enjoy pop, R&B, and a number of other genres; melded together to create one rare sound.
